Filling
Cost & Insurance

A tooth filling is one of the most affordable treatments in dentistry, and catching a cavity early keeps it that way. The cost depends on the size and location of the cavity, and we give you the exact price in writing before we begin, never a surprise afterward.

Fillings are among the most commonly covered procedures by dental insurance. We accept most PPO and HMO plans and verify your benefits ahead of time, so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front. If you need it, monthly payment plans through CareCredit and Citi are available. See our financing options.

One honest point worth making: a small filling today is far less expensive than the root canal or crown a neglected cavity can lead to later. Early treatment is the budget-friendly choice.

What Getting a Filling Is Like

The whole visit is usually quick, and your comfort comes first from start to finish.

Exam and diagnosis

We confirm the cavity using a visual exam and digital X-rays, then explain exactly what we see and what it will cost.

Gentle numbing

The area is fully numbed before we start, so you feel pressure at most, not pain.

Removing the decay

We carefully clean away the decayed part of the tooth, leaving healthy structure behind.

Placing the filling

We fill the space with a tooth-colored material, shaped and shaded to match your tooth, then harden and polish it.

Done, usually in one visit

Most fillings are finished in a single appointment, and you walk out with the cavity gone.

Signs You Might Have a Cavity

Cavities, also called dental caries, form when bacteria and sugar wear away the tooth. Early on they often cause no symptoms at all, which is why regular checkups catch them before you feel anything. Come see us if you notice:

  • A toothache or pain when biting down
  • Sensitivity to sweets, or to hot and cold
  • A visible hole, pit, or dark spot on a tooth
  • Food that keeps getting caught in the same spot
  • Rough or chipped edges you can feel with your tongue

Decay only spreads if left alone. A spot that needs a simple filling today can grow into something that needs a root canal or crown if it waits, so it is always worth a quick look.

Modern, Natural-Looking Fillings, and Care Beyond the Filling

Modern dentistry has changed fillings completely. Instead of dark metal that announces every repair, we use natural-looking materials that bond to the tooth and blend seamlessly with it, restoring both health and appearance. Most people will not be able to spot the treated tooth at all. And because Vartanian Dental Group offers the full range of care, a filling is never where the conversation ends if your tooth needs more. If decay has reached deeper, the same team handles root canals, crowns, and other restorations in one office, so you are never sent elsewhere mid-treatment. You will find us on the first floor of Pacific Canyons Medical Center at 26302 La Paz Rd #203, just off the I-5 at the La Paz Road exit, with on-site parking. We care for patients from across the city, Rancho Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Aliso Viejo.

Open Monday to Thursday 8 AM to 5 PM and Friday 8 AM to 3 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not during the procedure. The area is fully numbed first, so you feel pressure at most. Some
patients feel mild sensitivity for a day or two afterward, which fades on its own.

Most fillings are completed in a single visit, often in under an hour depending on the size and
number of cavities. We confirm the plan after your exam.

They are made from durable, natural-looking materials that bond to the tooth and are shaded to
match it, so the repair blends in. Unlike older metal fillings, they are virtually invisible when you
smile or speak.

A well-placed filling lasts many years with good care. Brushing, flossing, and regular checkups
help your fillings and the rest of your teeth last as long as possible.

Decay does not heal on its own. Left untreated, a cavity grows deeper and can reach the nerve,
leading to pain, infection, and the need for a root canal or even tooth removal. A timely filling
prevents all of that.

Brush twice a day, floss daily, limit sugary foods and drinks, and keep up regular cleanings and
exams so any early decay is caught and treated before it grows.
