Dental Crowns in
Mission Viejo, CA

Restore a damaged or weakened tooth with a custom porcelain crown that looks and works like your own.

A cracked, worn, or heavily filled tooth needs more protection than a filling can give. A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers the whole tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance in one durable piece. At Vartanian Dental Group in Mission Viejo, we craft porcelain and ceramic crowns that blend in so naturally most people will never know which tooth was treated.

Why Patients Trust Us With Their
 Crowns

4.9 stars across 1,300+ Google reviews. A crown should fit precisely, feel comfortable, and look natural, and that track record reflects how carefully each one is made.

Your crown is designed and placed by Dr. James Vartanian, DDS, who has restored smiles in Mission Viejo for over 26 years. As an expert in crowns and bridges, he combines aesthetic detail with restorative precision so each crown fits perfectly, functions properly, and looks like a natural tooth, not a repair.

“I like all the dental hygienists here and love that this office has all the specialties so I don’t have to shop around.”

Treatment That's Essential

Dental Crown

Cost & Financing

The cost of a crown depends on the tooth being treated and the material used. Rather than a vague “starting at” figure, we give you the exact price in writing after your exam, before any work begins. We believe everyone deserves the care they need, so we work closely with you on the financial side.

We accept most PPO and HMO plans and verify your benefits ahead of time, and crowns are commonly covered in part. For the remainder, flexible monthly payment plans through CareCredit and Citi keep treatment manageable. See our financing options.

It also helps to see a crown as protection. Placing one on a cracked or weakened tooth often prevents the root canal or extraction that a neglected tooth can lead to later.

How Getting a Crown Works

We keep the process precise and comfortable from start to finish.

Exam and planning

We assess the tooth, discuss your options, and explain exactly what your crown will cost and how long it will take.

Preparing the tooth

The tooth is gently shaped so the crown will fit securely over it. The area is numbed first, so you feel pressure at most.

Custom crafting

We design your crown to match the shape, size, and shade of your natural teeth, then have it custom-made for a precise fit.

Placing your crown

Your finished crown is fitted, checked for comfortable bite and natural appearance, and bonded securely in place.

Caring for it

With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, your crown is built to last for years of normal use.

When a Tooth Needs a Crown

A crown is often the right choice when a tooth needs more than a filling but is still worth saving. We may recommend one to:

  • Protect a cracked, broken, or weakened tooth
  • Restore a tooth after a root canal
  • Cover and strengthen a large filling that no longer holds
  • Cap a dental implant to complete a tooth replacement
  • Improve the look of a misshapen or badly discolored tooth

If several teeth in a row are missing, a dental bridge, which uses crowns on either side of the gap to hold a replacement tooth, may be the better option. We will walk you through both at your visit.

We’ve Got You

Crowns and Bridges, Plus Everything Else, in One Office

Modern crowns are a world away from the obvious metal caps of the past. We use porcelain and ceramic, which reflect light like natural enamel and are shaded to match your surrounding teeth, so the result looks like part of your smile rather than dental work.

And because Vartanian Dental Group offers the full range of care, a crown is never an isolated procedure. If the tooth first needs a root canal, gum treatment, or turns out to need replacement with an implant, the right specialist is already here. One office, one team, one plan.

You will find us on the first floor of Pacific Canyons Medical Center at 26302 La Paz Rd #203, just off the I-5 at the La Paz Road exit, with on-site parking. We care for patients from across the city, Rancho Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Aliso Viejo. Open Monday to Thursday 8 AM to 5 PM and Friday 8 AM to 3 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions

With good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, crowns and bridges typically last 10 to 15 years, and often longer. Brushing, flossing, and routine cleanings help you get the most from your crown.

We use porcelain and ceramic, chosen because they closely mimic the look of natural teeth and are both strong and durable. Your crown is shaded to match the teeth around it so it blends right in.

The tooth is numbed before it is prepared, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some mild sensitivity afterward is normal and settles within a few days.

When a tooth is cracked or has a filling so large that little healthy structure remains, a crown protects the whole tooth far better than another filling. We will tell you honestly which your tooth needs.

Crowns are commonly covered in part by PPO and HMO plans. We verify your specific benefits before treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost in advance, and offer CareCredit and Citi payment plans for the balance.

A crown caps a single damaged tooth. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a replacement to crowns on the neighboring teeth. We offer both and will recommend what fits your case.
